EdgeHog

You know how annoying it is when you have to move your pointer from one side of the screen all the way to the other side? Bummer right? Well now there's an easier way with ... EdgeHog! Edgehog lets you exit your pointer on one side of the screen and come in the other! Your pointer now works like the ship in Asteroids (only you don't get to shoot anything). Finally getting around your desktop is a snap!

Instructions

  • Download the edgeHog.zip file and unzip it.
  • Place the file where you keep your cool stuff and launch it.
  • The green buttons means the side is active, red means inactive.
  • Minimaize edgeHog and forgetabout it!
  • To quit, bring edgeHog to the front and command-Q to quit.
This app does exactly what it says it does and nothing more, however, use at your own risk.

Q&A

  • Won't that be confusing? - Well let me ask you this, is the Colemak keyboard layout confusing? The answer is yes, but it's worth it! I have been using edgeHog for weeks and I'm 60% more efficient* than I was before!
  • What if I'm dragging a file or window, will it come to the other side too? - You betcha!
  • But I use the hidden dock a lot, won't this make it hard to trigger? - It will, but you can easliy set it to only activate on sides without the dock.
  • What about if I have mulitple monitors? - Hmm actually that's a good question. I'll have to get back to you on that one.
  • I have a Mac, will this only work on PC and Linux? - Nope, it only works on a Mac, horray!
  • If I install egdeHog on my friends computer for April fools with they think it was a fun joke or that I gave them a horrible virus? - Quite possibly the latter, but you should definitely do it.
  • This is awesome, but I bet it's really expensive right? - No! for a limited time** you can download edgeHog for free!
  • Seriously, How does this work? - It's a processing app (source) that uses a java library called awt (The Abstract Window Toolkit). It lets you muck around with a lot of stuff you really wouldn't think Java would let you do. Fun!
